“What do you mean it’s ‘Dead’?!”

“Well…. When you push the big red button, the flashy-light-thingies on the front, don’t… well…. flash…”

“Very funny. Seriously though…. what is wrong with it?”

“Where do I begin?… You remember when we talked about adding all those drives and RAID controllers to back up the server every night?”

“Vaguely…”

“Well the controller died.”

“OK. Well that shouldn’t be a problem, it was ‘RAID’ after all.”

“Ah… now there’s the crux of the issue. If we had stayed with the cheapo SATA drives, life would be fine. Unfortunately these all-singing-all-dancing RAID cards tend to kill the drives as well.”

“Oh my god. You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“That’s not where it ends… When the controller died, it took out the USB ports as well. So the extra backups we had also died.”

“But we do have them in a fire-safe somewhere don’t we???”

“Er…. did you write a policy on that?”

“Great. Just f***ing great. Now I’m going to have to download all that porn… er I mean… financial information again.”
