Install Novacom, then go into Windows Services and ensure that the &#8220;Palm Novacom&#8221; service is started &#8211; If you don&#8217;t, you&#8217;ll get a &#8220;cannot connect to server&#8221; message later.<\/p>\n<p>4. Insert USB Cable and click on &#8220;USB&#8221; option that pops up in the top left of the WebOS screen<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/usbdrive_webos.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-279\" title=\"usbdrive_webos\" src=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/usbdrive_webos.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"447\" height=\"81\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/usbdrive_webos.png 447w, https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/usbdrive_webos-300x54.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 447px) 100vw, 447px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5. Create a folder called <strong>cminstall<\/strong> on the TouchPad drive<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7. Copy the following files into the <strong>cminstall<\/strong> folder:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>update-cm-7.1.0-tenderloin-a1-fullofbugs.zip<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (or whatever the latest one is at the time of reading this)<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>moboot_0.3.3.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>8. Safely Unmount\/Eject the TouchPad drive from your PC (use the Windows Tasktray option) but <span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #ff0000;\">leave the cable plugged in<\/span><\/p>\n<p>9. On the TouchPad WebOS, go into &#8220;Settings, Device Info, Reset Options, Restart&#8221; &#8211; The TP will reset. As soon as the spinning icon (Before the HP Logo) appears, hold down the Volume-up button until a USB logo (smaller than the one in step4) appears on the TP Screen. If it doesn&#8217;t appear, try power <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and<\/span> volume up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/reset_webos.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-280\" title=\"reset_webos\" src=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/reset_webos-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/reset_webos-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/reset_webos.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>10. Unzip the Copy Readme\/Installer and copy the ACMEInstaller into the Novacom program folder<\/p>\n<p>Note: This could be &#8220;C:\\Program Files\\Palm, Inc&#8221;, or something like &#8220;c:\\program files (x86)\\HP SDK\\bin&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>11. Start a command prompt &#8211; NOTE: In Win7 use &#8216;right-click &#8220;run as Administrator&#8221;&#8216;<\/p>\n<p>12. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the ACMEInstaller (cd &#8220;\\program files&#8230;. etc&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>13. At the PC command prompt type : novacom boot mem:\/\/ &lt; ACMEInstaller<\/p>\n<p>(replace ACMEInstaller with ACMEInstaller2 for CM9)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/novacom.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-281\" title=\"novacom\" src=\"http:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/novacom.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/novacom.png 500w, https:\/\/www.internet-tools.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/novacom-300x151.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>14. You should see the TP start installing CyanogenMod &#8211; <strong>BE PATIENT<\/strong> &#8211; This can take about 10-20 mins.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>You *MAY* get a lot of &#8216;Alarm Expired&#8217; warnings &#8211; Ignore them and wait, wait, wait&#8230;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>When it reboots, you should see a nice CM7 Desktop, but we still need to install some more goodies&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>15. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; text-decoration: underline;\">IF<\/span><\/span> the main Google Apps (e.g. Market) are missing, then perform this step:-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>First we need to get all the standard Google Apps, this is done by downloading the latest CM7 Google Apps package from <a href=\"http:\/\/goo-inside.me\/gapps\"><strong>http:\/\/goo-inside.me\/gapps<\/strong><\/a> (&#8220;20110828 Universal&#8221; at the top) and place in the &#8216;downloads&#8217; folder on the TP. Reboot the TP into &#8216;recovery&#8217; mode (press and hold power and select &#8216;recovery&#8217;), and then select &#8220;install zip from sd card&#8221; and select the gapps zip file you copied onto the system, then reboot<\/p>\n<p>(More information can be found here: <a href=\"http:\/\/rootzwiki.com\/showthread.php?7809-How-to-Install-Google-Market-amp-Apps-on-CM7-Alpha-TouchPad\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/rootzwiki.com\/showthread.php?7809-How-to-Install-Google-Market-amp-Apps-on-CM7-Alpha-TouchPad<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>16. There are various other &#8216;key&#8217; apps that may or may not work, and here is a workaround for <strong>Maps, Facebook and Twitter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mount your USB on the TouchPad (slide up the notification bar. touch &#8220;USB Connected&#8221; and then &#8220;Turn on USB Storage&#8221;). Now repeat the process of running the ACME Installer, and ClockworkMod will be installed.
